Eileen, 71
Eileen, a steadfast veteran who dedicated an impressive 49 years as a semiconductor inspector at Micron Technologies, embodies loyalty and resilience. Now retired, she channels her energy into volunteering at the Orange Valley Active Aging Centre (AAC) in Bidadari, where she thrives as a friendly face and a welcoming hand to newcomers.
Reflecting on her career, Eileen fondly recalls the vibrant team culture that defined her working life. From post-shift adventures like barbecuing, swimming, and exploring nearby gems like Sister’s Island, to the camaraderie forged in daily teamwork, these experiences left an indelible mark on her. She believes that it was the people and the shared spirit of teamwork that made work not just a job, but a joy.
Eileen retired just before the Covid pandemic, a decision she cherishes. She shared that she wanted to give younger employees a chance and finally take a well-deserved break. Retirement, however, has been anything but idle. At the AAC, she eagerly engages in activities to keep her mind sharp and takes pride in befriending newcomers, ensuring they feel at ease in their new community.
Her advice to youth? To never underestimate the power of teamwork. When people come together, challenges seem smaller, and solutions come quicker. It’s through collaboration that people truly achieve more.
