Linda, 66, believes wholeheartedly in learning. This year alone, she has taken 12 days off work so she can take courses in communication, arts, etc. “You have to stay relevant and know what is happening in society. Learning keeps your mind active and you can also make new friends.”

She added: “Seniors tend not to venture into new things. You must take the first step and then you will know.” For instance, when she took up the arts course, she was initially concerned that what she drew might not match the actual picture/object and people might laugh. “After my second lesson, I drew a person’s face. I showed it to a friend and she thought it was good,” smiled the mother of two. “I [now] look forward to attending the next session.”

She also will take days off from work to volunteer if she likes the cause she is supporting. However, enrichment courses aren’t the only things she takes up, she also goes to exercise classes in yoga and Zumba. And did we forget to tell you, Linda likes to match her outfit with her glasses as well as her earrings. “I always say: Life is colourful.”
