Already making plans for retirement, Dolly, 57, wants to stay active and occupy her time with her favourite activities. Her plans for retirement include taking up a part-time job, volunteering, reading and baking – she admitted that she would probably allocate more time towards baking, as shown by her excitement to take up full-time baking courses.

Her passion for baking first started out during a Hari Raya celebration at a friend’s house. “I went to her house for Hari Raya and her cookies were so good! So I asked her for the recipes.” Since then the mother of three has been asking for recipes from different friends and trying them out at home, only succeeding after various attempts. Some of her favourite pastries include mooncakes and cookies. She hopes to be able to bake cakes soon.

She is currently working at SingTel as a sales support executive. Having worked in the telecommunications industry for 30 years, what she called “her first and hopefully last job”, her journey has not been easy. Much as she loves her job, she admitted that it can be challenging, “The job gradually becomes more fast-paced and stressful, and it is challenging having to keep up with technology.” Despite this, nothing is too difficult for Dolly as she is always open to learning.
